Today is part of Mental Illness Awareness Week in the US and this is a special bonus episode.
Stress and burnout are two terms we hear a lot. It’s hard to find anyone who has not been affected by stress and very often the majority of stress comes from work. Maybe you are working a job you don’t like. Or maybe you have tough performance goals that put a lot of pressure on you.
Work can be demanding and draining and the outcome can be an upset in our work-life balance. Relationships and health often suffer as a result, creating even more stress and anxiety.
The difference between burnout and stress might be just as unclear as the question of where to find help. And since work tends to be the main source of income, this cycle can spin out of control and affect our physical and mental health.
